Laura Maxfield Named Recipient of 2018 Young Guns Award

Laura Maxfield, a Certified Financial PlannerTM practitioner at Lee Financial, an independent fee-only wealth management firm based in Dallas-Ft. Worth, was awarded the 2018 Young Guns Award by the DFW chapter of the Financial Planning Association.  The annual event was held on October 10, 2018 at the Park Cities Club in Dallas, Texas.  Two other awards, the Honors and Chairman’s Award, were also presented.

The Young Guns Award is given to “individuals who have shown an extraordinary commitment and made significant contributions to the financial planning profession and FPA” and “demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of professional competence, integrity, relationships and stewardship, and whose extraordinary contributions advance the financial planning profession.”  Recipients must be Financial Planners age 36 or under.

As a Senior Financial Planner at Lee Financial, Laura helps her clients in many areas including retirement planning, education funding, cash flow management, estate, tax, and insurance. She has a passion for helping clients navigate the process of claiming Social Security benefits.

Laura is a graduate of Baylor University. Laura and her husband welcomed their first child to the world in November 2017.  They also have a beagle named Dexter and a western painted turtle named Willis.  Laura enjoys volunteering her time to educate others on the importance of making good financial decisions. She has volunteered with Junior Achievement USA, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices.  Laura has also presented various financial planning topics to students at Baylor University. Her involvement in the FPA includes serving on various committees such as Career Development, NexGen, Symposium, and served as Chair of the Scholarship Program in 2015 and 2016.
